A Prayer For Stillness Before God
Heavenly Father,
We come before You in a world filled with noise, hurry, and striving. Yet Your Word gently calls us, “Be still, and know that I am God” (Psalm 46:10). Teach our restless hearts to be still in Your presence.
Lord, quiet the anxious thoughts that race within us. Help us to remember that You are sovereign, exalted among the nations and exalted in the earth (Psalm 46:10). You sit enthroned above the flood, and You remain King forever (Psalm 29:10). We do not have to control what You already hold in Your hands.
Father, Your Word says, “In repentance and rest is your salvation, in quietness and trust is your strength” (Isaiah 30:15). Forgive us for the times we strive instead of surrender. Teach us the strength that comes from trusting You fully.
When we are tempted to lean on our own understanding, remind us to “trust in the Lord with all your heart” and acknowledge You in all our ways (Proverbs 3:5–6). Align our plans with Your will. Slow our steps so we can follow Your lead.
Lord Jesus, You showed us how to withdraw to quiet places to pray (Luke 5:16). Draw us into that sacred stillness. As we wait on You, renew our strength so we may rise up like eagles, run and not grow weary, walk and not faint (Isaiah 40:31).
Help us to rest in the truth that “The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still” (Exodus 14:14). When battles surround us, anchor us in peace. When answers delay, anchor us in trust.
We surrender our need to manage every outcome. You are God, and we are not. You are faithful, wise, and good in all Your ways (Psalm 145:17). Teach us to rest in who You are.
We choose stillness. We choose trust. We choose to let You be God.
In Jesus’ holy and sovereign name,
Amen.
