A Prayer for Easter Sunday
Heavenly Father,
We come before You with grateful hearts, rejoicing in the glorious truth of this day. “Christ is risen; He is not here” (Mark 16:6). The stone has been rolled away, death has been defeated, and the grave has lost its victory.
Lord, we praise You, for just as Your Word declares, “He was delivered up for our trespasses and raised for our justification” (Romans 4:25). Thank You for the cross. Thank You for the empty tomb. Thank You that through Jesus Christ, we have redemption through His blood and the forgiveness of sins (Ephesians 1:7).
On this holy morning, we remember that “God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son” (John 3:16). And because He lives, we too shall live (John 14:19). Fill our hearts with resurrection hope. Let the same power that raised Christ from the dead dwell in us and bring new life to every weary, broken, and discouraged place within us (Romans 8:11).
Make us people of resurrection. Help us to walk in newness of life (Romans 6:4), setting our minds on things above, where Christ is seated at Your right hand (Colossians 3:1). May we proclaim with boldness that Jesus is Lord and declare the good news that “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved” (Romans 10:13).
We celebrate today because “Death has been swallowed up in victory” (1 Corinthians 15:54). Thanks be to You, O God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ (1 Corinthians 15:57).
Be glorified in our worship, in our homes, and in our lives this Easter Sunday. May the risen Christ shine through us, and may our hearts forever echo the praise:
Alleluia! Christ is risen indeed!
In the mighty and victorious name of Jesus we pray,
Amen.
