Jesus Will Always Fulfill You- Self Care Won't

This post might be controversial...but hear me out!

I was chatting with two of my sweet friends yesterday about marriage and motherhood and this last year...and the conversation turned to making sure we were taking care of ourselves and we had such a good conversation about self care.

LOVE taking bubble baths and reading and the basic "self care" activities as much as anyone. And sometimes they DO refresh me!

But the other night, I had a little bit of time to myself. I started watching a fairly mindless show...but I felt this tugging in my spirit to sit outside, listen to worship music, read the word and doodle.

I was *so much* more refreshed after 30 minutes than I ever have been after doing any of the other "self care" activities.

Why?

As my friend so eloquently put it last night, we can only find TRUE rest in Jesus. And that only happens by spending time with Him.

How?

1. Pray
2. Read His Word
3. Worship Him

Spending time with Jesus is the ultimate self care- and the only thing that will really give us rest.

Indeed, time with Christ is the ultimate “restoration”.

This is so true. When I am weary and worn, I have a few verses that are my go to that I meditate on: Be still and know that I am God… Psalms 46:10, My yoke is easy and My burden is light. Matthew 11:30. These remind me that I have to make the effort of letting go and turning my anxieties and worries to God who sees me and knows me and loves me. On days that I struggle to remember this, I put on one of my many EllyandGrace shirts as a reminder! Thank you for your heartfelt words!

Yes! I have major trouble sleeping, but I have found that spiritual rest can be even more refreshing than physical sleep. Psalm 84!

I have to do that too. Reading His words, Devotionals, then Bible Journaling and doodle or draw whatever "hits me.i have a Christian planner I also write thought of the day or where I was in mindset.. I feel lost if the routine is not kept. The only music I listen to is Christian music, I play it at my desk at work and truck on my way home. God and I have lovely conversations and I hope that when people are near me they see how Christ has changed me and ask why I am the way I am.
Wearing your shirts also to work and everywhere ..some fellow coworkers are now wearing your shirts..more are asking for the information. God planted me here for a reason. Thank you for being you ❤
