Season of Gratitude

Heavenly Father,

We come before You today with grateful hearts — and yet we confess that gratitude does not always come naturally. We are quick to notice what is missing and slow to celebrate what is present. So today, Lord, we make a deliberate and joyful choice to turn our eyes toward all that You have done, all that You have given, and all that You are — and we simply say thank You.

Thank You for the gift of life itself. For breath in our lungs and another day to know You, love You, and walk with You. "Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights" (James 1:17). Every moment of beauty, every burst of laughter, every relationship that has shaped us, every morning that has greeted us with mercy — has come from Your open and generous hand. We did not deserve a single one. And yet You have lavished them upon us.

Lord, gratitude runs deepest when we remember what we have been saved from. "While we were still sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8). We were lost, and You found us. We were broken, and You restored us. We were dead in our sin, and You made us alive in Christ (Ephesians 2:4–5). No blessing in any season will ever surpass the gift of Your Son. May the cross forever be the foundation of our gratitude — the place we return to when thankfulness runs thin.

Father, teach us to give thanks not only in seasons of abundance but in every season. "Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus" (1 Thessalonians 5:18). Gratitude is not the denial of hardship — it is the defiant declaration that You are good even when life is hard. Grow that kind of gratitude in us, Lord — the kind that does not depend on favorable conditions to flourish.

Guard us from the drift of forgetfulness. May we be a people who rehearse Your faithfulness daily, who "enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise" (Psalm 100:4), and who carry a spirit of gratitude into every room we enter and every life we touch. A grateful church is a powerful witness to a watching world.

May our gratitude overflow into generosity — our time, our resources, our encouragement, and our love flowing freely to others. For "whoever sows generously will also reap generously" (2 Corinthians 9:6). Let our lives become a continuous act of thanksgiving — not just in our words, but in the way we love, serve, and honor You with everything we have been given.

Thank You, Lord — for more than we could ever name, more than we could ever count, and more than we will ever fully understand this side of eternity.

With grateful hearts, we worship You today.

In the name of Jesus, Amen.
