Jesus Never Changes

Heavenly Father,

We come before You today in a world that seems to shift beneath our feet with every passing day. Values change. Relationships change. Circumstances change. The news changes by the hour and the ground we thought was solid can give way without warning. And yet we come to You today anchored by one of the most steadying truths in all of Scripture — that Jesus Christ is "the same yesterday and today and forever" (Hebrews 13:8). In a world of relentless change, You do not change. And that changes everything.

Lord, Your unchanging nature is not a small comfort — it is the foundation upon which we build our entire lives. Because You never change, every promise You have ever made still stands. Every word You have ever spoken still holds. "The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of our God endures forever" (Isaiah 40:8). When the world around us feels unreliable and unstable, Your Word remains the one fixed point we can return to — steady, sure, and unshakeable.

Father, remind us that the Jesus who walked the dusty roads of Galilee healing the sick, welcoming the outcast, and speaking life to the broken — is the very same Jesus who meets us today. He who turned water into wine, calmed the raging sea, and called Lazarus from the grave has not retired from the business of miracles. He who wept at the tomb of His friend (John 11:35) still weeps with those who weep (Romans 12:15). His compassion has not cooled. His power has not diminished. His love has not wavered. He is the same.

Lord, what a comfort it is to know that Your character never shifts with our circumstances. You are not patient with us one day and irritable the next. You are not generous in one season and withholding in another. You are the God who declared "I the Lord do not change" (Malachi 3:6) — and because of that, we are not consumed by our failures or our fears. Your mercy is as fresh today as it has ever been. Your grace is as freely given now as it was at Calvary.

Father, there are those among us today who have been shaken by change they did not choose — loss, transition, uncertainty, upheaval. Speak peace into those hearts right now. Anchor them in the truth that while everything around them may be shifting, they are held by One who cannot be moved. "Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever" (Hebrews 13:8) — and that means His faithfulness to them today is as sure as it was the day He called them by name.

May we be a people who run to Your unchanging nature as our refuge in every storm. Who "trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord, the Lord Himself, is the Rock eternal" (Isaiah 26:4). Who build our lives not on the shifting sands of circumstance but on the solid rock of who You are and what You have promised. For "everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock" (Matthew 7:24) — and that rock will never crumble, never shift, and never fail.

You are the same, Lord. Yesterday, today, and forever. And because You are, we can face whatever comes.

In the name of Jesus, Amen.
