You Are a Warrior!

“Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a battle you know nothing about.”

This quote has been on my mind a lot lately. We tend to keep our struggles inside, especially the really tough ones. Sometimes it’s out of fear, sometimes shame, sometimes we don’t want people to know the truth because of the judgment we think it would bring. So we trudge on, trying to carry the burden alone, doing our best to put on a happy face.

I’ve been reminded recently that people can appear to have it all together on the outside, while their private life away from the spotlight is a daily battlefield. And what I’ve discovered is that we can only go on like this for so long before we reach a breaking point.

The truth is, we were never meant to handle everything by ourselves, and in our weakness, God has a chance to show us how strong He is. I want to encourage you to find a safe community and let them in on your struggles. Get people to rally around you in prayer. Ask for help - first from God and secondly from friends who love Him and love you.

When the angel of the Lord appeared to Gideon, he said, ‘The Lord is with you, mighty warrior.’ (Judges 6:12). And Gideon basically replied, “Who...me? Sorry, I think you have the wrong guy!” Maybe you can relate. Maybe you’re in over your head, fighting a seemingly losing battle.

Believe it or not, dear friend, YOU are a mighty warrior. A daughter of the King with the power that raised Christ from the dead at work within you!

You don’t have to do it all. Isn’t that a relief? Your weakness is an opportunity for God to display His strength. Whatever burden you carry, God will supply you with power infinitely greater than your own to fight your battles. He will equip you to accomplish everything He has called you to do, when you place your faith in Him.

Pick up your sword, put on the armor of God, and march ahead in the confidence that the Lord goes before you and has already given you the victory!
