My Miracle

Our God is a God of Miracles! We hear this phrase often, tied in with stories of God's miraculous work in the lives of others, but sometimes it's hard to believe that we can experience it for ourselves.

The Monday before Mother's Day, I found out that God had given me a miracle.

But to tell you about that, I have to go back to 2015. I had been married for two years, and we decided it was time to start trying to have a baby. You think it's going to be easy....but I just had a gut feeling that something was wrong. After about 7 months, we saw a specialist. They told us we would have to use IVF to conceive, because there was only a .01% chance we could have a child the "natural" way.

I didn't want to accept that. So we saw another specialist, did more tests...they said the same thing. Chances were basically 0. ZERO!

Around the same time, I attended a church conference, and during the message, the idea for ellyandgrace popped into my mind. So, after praying about it and talking to my husband, ellyandgrace was born! Yes, I was unhappy in my day job and looking for something that could share the gospel, (that's always the reason I've given people), but I also started ellyandgrace to take my mind off how upset I was that I couldn't get pregnant.

The Tell Your Mountain about Your God design was inspired by my struggle- and every time I saw it, I was reminded that we serve a great God. I focused on building my new business but the desire to become a mom never went away.

During this time, I didn't tell many people about our struggle. Sometimes I hinted around about it on social media, but I've always been a really private person. I didn't understand why it was happening. When you're a type A planner (and I am!) it's hard to accept when your plans don't work out.

But the Lord has perfect timing. He taught me quite a bit about patience in the waiting!

Okay- back to Mother's Day. I was completely shocked to find out just a few days before Mother's Day that I was pregnant. Because we were told it was impossible. Because we hadn't started IVF yet. And I knew without a doubt- God had given us a miracle!

I know that God's plans are not our own and that His timing is perfect.

Because now, I have the opportunity to share this miracle with you. To let you know, friend, that miracles do happen! So, remember.... if you're going through something that seems impossible- with God ALL things are possible!

Our sweet baby girl is due January 4th!

Thank you for sharing your story, it is truly inspiring. Before I had my beautiful son, my husband and I had 3 miscarriages..they crushed us and put a lot of hurt in our marriage, but we both knew that if we had faith and trusted in God we would get our blessing, and in July 2016, we welcomed our little William..I am praying for you and I truly believe God blesses us in his own timing, that has been a big part in my life journey.. I love your elly and grace line..I love how you share the gospel and I love being able to share my faith and be cute as well..God Bless you and your husband.

I’m so thankful you shared your story…and that you were faithful and trusted God with your heart and plans! Your daughter will be blessed by parents that love the Lord and her story will no doubt bless others too. Congratulations on your miracle!

  • Chelsey A,

Thank you so much for sharing your story. My story started out much like your’s — married for a little over a year and trying to start out family, then learning that we had less than a 0.01% of conceiving on our own. We started the IVF journey and were blessed with our son, Drew, on the first round. God is so good! We’ve been through a few subsequent rounds of IVF that were not successful but are continuing to have faith that God has something beautiful in store for our family. I will be praying for you and your growing family, and cannot thank you enough for your commitment to the Lord that is evident in your ellyandgrace line. God Bless!
