5 Tips for Easy Bible Memorization

If you're anything like me, you struggle with memorizing anything!

I have always wanted to be one of those people who could come up with scripture on the spot to be able encourage others with it, but it just didn't come naturally to me so I had to really be intentional about it.

Being a visual learner I knew I needed to put it in places I would constantly be able to see it.

So, here are my top 5 ways to memorizing scripture!

1. Stick to ONE verse each week. Don't try and learn a bunch at a time!

Pick one that really means something to you and start with it- that meaning will make it easier to memorize and as a bonus, you'll have it when you need it most.

Find that verse that you desperately need to cling to- and start with just memorizing that one!

2. Find a Bible verse printable of the verse you are memorizing and stick it on your front door so anytime you leave your house you will see it!  

I bought a coloring book online that has a bunch of verses in it and used pages out of it,  but there are lots of printable options on the internet too (and we might have some ellyandgrace coloring sheets coming out soon!)

3. Write it on your bathroom mirror with a dry erase marker so you see it every morning and every night!  

I like to do this and then every day rewrite it. It helps me memorize it and isn't as hard to get off later!

4. Make the wallpaper of your phone a picture of the verse you are memorizing!

We post wall papers of the week every Wednesday in our Strength and Dignity by ellyandgrace group!

5. Include it in your prayers. Meditate and pray on your verse for the week. Even if you need to read it while you're praying.

By the end of the week you will have it memorized and stored in your heart to recall any time you need it!

I’ve been married to my husband, Michael for 7 years and we have two littles here on earth with us- Sadie Grace, who is four, soon to be five and a sweet little guy, Cooper, who turned two this year.

We also have a son, our oldest, Colby in heaven. He would be five now, almost six! He passed away on Christmas Eve in 2012 and was stillborn at 39 weeks. It's been a rough journey but God has been with me every step of it and I know He will continue to be.
