6 Verses for the Worried Heart

Feeling worried? This post is for you.

These verses will help remind you that God is our place of refuge from worry, whether you're worried about something massive or something small.

John 14:27- “I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.

2 Thessalonians 3:16- Now may the Lord of peace himself give you his peace at all times and in every situation. The Lord be with you all.

Matthew 6:24- “So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today.

Luke 12:25- Can all your worries add a single moment to your life?

Psalm 34:4- I prayed to the Lord, and he answered me. He freed me from all my fears.

1 Peter 5:7- Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.

“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
    ‭‭Joshua‬ ‭1‬:‭9‬ ‭NIV‬‬ 🙏🏻❤️

This morning, I woke up with a verse running through my mind. This isn’t normal for me, usually it’s a song, or bits of a dream, or (ugh) worries. But today I had Philippians 4:7 clear as day. I had to get up and find the reference (I know, I should have known this) and write it down. And do you know what struck me? This PEACE it speaks of, I don’t have to go looking for it, seek it out, chase after it. It is here for me to grab, to hold, to tuck way down in my heart and fill my head (where the anxiety tries to warp). It is a gift, freely given, without needing to earn or do better or ‘figure out’. And look. The first verse on this post, John 14:27. “I am leaving you with a gift – peace of mind and heart.” Ah, that is just what He was speaking to me this morning! Now to tuck this in and live it out. ❤️

My go to verse for worry…and about everything…is Psalms 46:10 “Be still and know I am God.” When I think on what that means to do, it instantly calms me to know I have my God watching over me that I know controls all.
