You aren't Ice Cream.

I LOVE ice cream. Ask my husband, my friends, anyone. When I was in college I would constantly try and get my friends to go with me to get frozen yogurt, or go to cold stone...or to get Ben and Jerry's half-baked for me. And don't even get me started on the amazingness that is magic shell!

But I digress....
Ugh- RIGHT? Am I the only one who wants everyone to be pleased/proud/excited for me and what I'm doing?

Show of hands on the internet.....oh good. I'm not alone.

I did a video interview for Own it By Brooke G  (another aside- Brooke is a great girlboss who lives in my hometown and she's also a fantastic photographer. She's taken lots of these product images you see around my site)

The video is at the end of this post, and in it I talked a little about the biggest struggle I've had in my business and in my life- and SPOILER ALERT- it's people who can't seem to be satisfied or happy with ANYTHING that you do.

Because, even if you're doing the best you can do- you can't please everyone.
My Dad used to have this saying (and he probably borrowed it from someone else) You can please all of the people some of the time, and some of the people all of the time, but you can't please all of the people all of the time.

Well, you say, that's frustrating!
I KNOW! It is frustrating. Not just in business, but in life.

And what if- that person is yourself? What if you are your biggest obstacle and if you could just let go of trying to be perfect you could accomplish so much more.

So- What do you do? How do you deal with this?

I've started doing three practical things that have helped. And if you have things that have helped you, please comment below and let me know!

1) PRAY! When I'm frustrated or struggling, I always pray about it.

2) Have dinner or text with a friend. Some of my friends might tell you they get PARAGRAPH texts from me from time to time! It's really important to have friends who really care about you- and I'm very lucky that I do.

3) Surround yourself with people who are invested in you. The pastor at our church always says "Show me your friends, I'll show you your future" and "If you're the smartest person in the room, you're in the wrong room."

Remind yourself that you're clothed in strength and dignity and a daughter of the King.
Hold your head up high girl! And remember- you can't please everyone. You aren't ice cream.
